Motorized blinds convenient for basement windows

Many empty-nesters are looking for ways to create new areas in their homes by making use of space that was previously designated for storage. That was the plan of one woman, who had two girls attending a university and much of the house to herself, according to The Seattle Times.

The basement was the main target of interior designer Candice Olson's renovations, but her goal was to create a room that would appeal to both mother and children.

"I wanted to create a multifunctional space that would satisfy the sisters' trendy entertainment needs and provide a sophisticated leisure space for the whole family. I divided the large room into three zones: a multimedia space with a big-screen TV, a dance area with a wall of mirrors and an office space with functional and stylish furniture," she wrote for the news source.

The only problem with basements is that they often have poor lighting. One way to get around this issue is to use motorized blinds as window treatments. With the flip of a switch, one can open the whole room to a healthy and calming glow.
