Video Description
This quick video and step-by-step checklist shows how to install Bali cordless solar roller shades featuring EasyTouch (smooth, assisted lift) with a clean flat valance. You’ll mount the brackets, snap in the tube, attach the valance face and returns, and run your first cycles—no chains or cords required.
What’s in the Box (Typical)
- Solar roller shade (fabric pre-wrapped on tube; EasyTouch cordless mechanism)
- Flat valance face (fascia) with valance dust cover and side returns
- Shade brackets with bracket covers and mounting screws
- Hold-down brackets (door applications, model dependent)
Tools You’ll Need
- Tape measure, pencil, level, step stool
- Drill/driver with 1/8" (3 mm) bit, Phillips bit
- Appropriate anchors for drywall, wood, masonry, or tile
- Small flathead screwdriver (for clip tabs/end cap access)
Before You Start
- Mount type: Inside mount gives a built-in look; outside mount adds overlap to reduce edge light.
- Depth & clearance: Confirm recess depth (inside mount) and ensure the flat valance clears locks/trim.
- Roll direction: Standard roll feeds behind the tube; reverse roll feeds in front—your valance clips should match your chosen direction.
Bracket Placement
- Mark bracket locations level and co-planar (same height and plane).
- For outside mount, strike a light level line at the planned top height and mark your side overlaps.
Installation - Inside Mount
- Assemble the dust cover by attaching the valance clips twisting them into place.
- Attach valance dust cover to the top of the window frame with.
- Pre-drill & fasten brackets: Use a 1/8" bit. Keep bracket faces aligned on one plane for a smooth snap-in.
- Insert the tube: Seat the pin/idle end first, then compress the EasyTouch drive end into its bracket until it clicks.
- Trim Valance returns to the desired length with a utility knife or scissors.
- Attach the returns to the valance.
- Mount the flat valance onto the clips and snap into place.
First Run & Leveling
- Lower/raise from the center of the hem bar with two hands for even travel.
- Run 2–3 full cycles to allow EasyTouch to “settle.” The hem should sit level; if not, re-seat the tube fully in both brackets.
Light & Privacy Tips (Solar Fabrics)
- Daytime: Solar weaves reduce glare and UV while maintaining views.
- Nighttime: Interiors are more visible with lights on; layer drapery or choose an outside mount/darker openness for more privacy.
Care & Cleaning
- Dust with a microfiber duster; vacuum gently with a brush attachment.
- Spot-clean with mild soap and water; avoid harsh chemicals on the solar mesh and valance finish.
Troubleshooting
- Shade won’t snap in: Brackets may be out of plane or the drive end isn’t fully compressed. Re-level and firmly seat both ends.
- Roll tracks to one side (telescopes): Re-check bracket parallel; ensure tube is fully seated. Adjust any end-plug tracking screw per your model (tiny increments).
- Raises too fast/slow: Some EasyTouch units allow minor tension tweaks via the end cap. Make ¼-turn adjustments only; consult your product sheet for the access point.
- Valance rattles: Confirm each clip is engaged and returns are seated; snug any visible set screws (if included).
