Video Description
This step-by-step video and checklist shows how to install Bali solar roller shades with a continuous cord loop (clutch). You’ll mount and level the brackets, snap in the tube, anchor the chain tensioner for child safety, set upper/lower bead-stop limits, and run a smooth first cycle.
What’s in the Box (Typical)
- Solar roller shade (fabric pre-wrapped on tube; clutch/loop control)
- Mounting brackets
- Continuous bead chain/loop with tension device (pre-installed safety anchor)
- Bead-stop(s) for travel limits (pre-installed)
- Bracket covers
- Mounting screws; spacer blocks/extension brackets (if included)
Tools You’ll Need
- Tape measure, pencil, level, step stool
- Drill/driver with 1/8" (3 mm) bit, Phillips bit
- Anchors for drywall, tile, or masonry as needed
- Small flathead screwdriver (for tensioner cover or bead-stop adjustments)
Before You Start
- Mount type: Inside mount gives a built-in look; outside mount adds overlap to reduce edge light.
- Depth/clearance: Verify recess depth (inside) and any valance clearance around locks/trim.
- Roll direction: Standard roll feeds behind the tube; reverse roll feeds in front to clear handles/trim.
Bracket Placement
- Mark bracket positions level and co-planar (same plane/height). Add a center support on wide shades.
- For outside mounts, strike a light level line at your planned top height and mark left/right overlaps.
Installation - Inside Mount
- Pre-drill & fasten brackets: Use a 1/8" bit. Keep faces aligned on one plane for a smooth snap-in.
- Insert the headrail: Seat the bottom groove of the cassette headrail first, then push to snap into the brackets.
- Install the tensioner: With the shade down a few inches, pull the device to where the loop is taut and straight. Mark holes, pre-drill, and anchor to the jamb so the loop runs freely without slack.
First Run & Leveling
- Most clutches lower when you pull the loop’s front down and raise when you pull the back down (follow your clutch arrows).
- The hem bar should sit level. If tilted, re-seat the tube fully in both brackets and confirm bracket faces are co-planar.
Solar Fabric Notes
- Daytime: Solar weaves cut glare and UV while preserving your view.
- Nighttime: Interiors are more visible with lights on—use an outside mount with added overlap or layer drapery for more privacy.
Care & Cleaning
- Dust with a microfiber duster; vacuum gently with a brush attachment.
- Spot-clean with mild soap and water; avoid harsh chemicals on the solar mesh and any valance finish.
Troubleshooting
- No “click” when mounting: Brackets may be out of plane. Re-level and re-seat the tube ends firmly.
- Loop feels slack or skips: Re-anchor the tensioner so the loop is taut and plumb; verify bead size matches the clutch sprocket.
- Fabric tracks to one side: Re-check bracket parallel and full tube seating. If your model has an end-plug tracking screw, adjust in tiny increments.
- Stops off by an inch: Reposition bead stops 1–2 beads at a time and re-test full cycles.
