What To Know About Top Selling Blinds

Nov 13 2010

Many people are looking for new blinds
for a variety of reasons. Either they want to fix up the look of their
home for personal pleasure, are redecorating an office or home, or are
trying to sell their property. No matter what reason you have for
looking at top-selling blinds, it helps to know a little bit about
them so you get the blinds that are best suited to your exact needs.

Here is just a little bit of information about some of the top selling blinds on the market:

•    Faux wood blinds are a great alternative to wood blinds. They cost
lest, but most people can’t tell the difference. Because of the
materials used to make them, they won’t warp, so they are great for high
moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms. The downfall of faux wood
blinds is that they are heavy, so lifting them can be an issue for some
people.

•    Wood blinds are the real thing. They come in a great variety of
stains so that it’s easy to match the current wood décor in the house. Wood
blinds may cost more than faux wood blinds, but they are easier to
operate, weigh less and cost less than shutters. They also bring a
natural element into the home.

•    Honeycomb cell shadesare
best known for their ability to insulate. Several brands qualify for a
federal tax credit for energy savings. They have a clean, modern look,
which doesn’t suit everyone’s tastes. They do come in lots of colors to
bring a splash of brightness to a room or keep it more neutral.

•    Vertical Blinds are most often used on oversized windows or sliding
doors. They stack to the left or right and are easy to use and clean.
The style is considered contemporary, which some people don’t like.

•    Aluminum mini blinds are the best choice if you don’t have a lot of
money to spend. Some of these blinds can be found for less than $20.00
per blind. There’s a rainbow of color choices. The only downside is they
don’t do a great job at insulating and they may bend with rough use, so
are not recommended for rooms that see a lot of kid and pet play.

•    Affordable Roman shades bring style and class to a room. They work in a number
of rooms from the bedroom to the living or dining rooms. The fabrics come
in patterned and plain. Some companies are pairing them with cell shades
for additional insulating power. In order to get a full view from the
window, however, the shades must be raised completely.

•    Roller shades and solar screen shades cut UV rays and kill glare
that can be a strain on eyes. They insulate against heat, but aren’t
intended as insulators against the cold. They are perfect for rooms that
get a lot of sun and ideal for warmer climates. They roll up for great,
unobstructed views. The weave pattern offers views while the blinds are
closed.

Knowing where to start can help the decision-making process. Think about
what is going to be practical for your home or room and start there. A
reliable company will have no problem sending out samples so you can see
what you’re getting before you buy. Good luck!
